I am an OT working exclusively with people who have eating disorders. I
would be happy to answer any specific questions you have, Heather and
others.

Heather--what exactly are you interested in? Are you an OT, a student,
working in eating disorders, mental health?

Becky--would you please email me the powerpoint? I would appreciate that.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Thanks.

Hi Everyone....

I read this site often....and the information on Eating Disorders sounds
very good and I would love to be able to share with my students what is
being used out in the community with eating disorders.....could this
powerpoint also be shared with me??? I will give complete credit to the
creator and a complete reference. There is so little OT info available
in this area....

Thank you...

Christi-
I worked with a dietician for a few months to get my eating under
control. Her name is Lorraine Eyerman [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Also I took a class on eating disorders in grad school. A ton of the
research we used came from Yale's program. They might be able to help
you better.

A couple activities I recall were cutting out pictures that conveyed
women who were not eating or promoted the need to be thin. Meal planning
and complications were covered in the class and we had to create
treatment plans. Groups of people had to research the programs and their
services provided. Take-home point is that insurance coverage for these
programs stinks. And unfortunately not so many OT's were working at the
facilities.

>From my personal experience, cognitive behavioral approach and life
experience were helpful. I now know that when I am in a bad situation,
starving will not help. Just because I ate too much does not mean the
next step is to run or work out excessively to rid myself of the "extra
pounds" immediately.
