Hello Ron and everyone else too:Ron, I don't share your experiences with OT practice issues. Partly, this is due to primarily working in peds. I have been an OTR for 6 years and have had amazing experiences; working with great OTs, PTs, SLPs and doctors that are VERY supportive of OT and make frequent and appropriate referrals. During the last six years, I have worked one year with adults as an "OT traveler"~ in sub-acute and out-patient rehabilitation. I can't speak about home health for adults... However, for rehab and out-patient I had plenty of referrals. Again, the docs were knowledgeable about OT and made frequent and appropriate referrals. The PTs and SLPs were also good about referrals to OT; and vice versa from me. I graduated in 2001 and have found that my education has been in-tune with current practice and policies. I do need to explain "occupation" and OT to almost all my patients; however, not to the other professionals I work with. I am planning to complete the OTD program and then go on for a PhD and become a professor, so, I will hopefully be a part forming our practice and policies. Anyway, this is my 2 cents. Take care, Heather _________________________________________________________________ See what you’re getting into…before you go there http://newlivehotmail.com/?ocid=TXT_TAGHM_migration_HM_viral_preview_0507 -- Options? www.otnow.com/mailman/options/otlist_otnow.com
