Mary,

First  off,  certification is not required for Medicare reimbursement. I
do  not know about other insurance companies or any State laws which may
apply  to  your situaion. But if you do seek certification there are two
levels;

1. The School you attend may certify you locally

2.  There is a certification test for National certification from LANA -
Lymphology Assoc of N. America, www.clt-lana.org

I  sort  of liken this situation to being a hand therapist. A CHT is not
required  to  do  UE  therapy,  but  studying  for the credential should
increase you knowledge and improve your marketabililty.
