Hi John:

Best wishes with your decision; either way you will have no difficulty finding
a job. As for salary, I am an OT and I make comparable to PTs with the same
amount of experience, and one of them has a DPT, and I have a BS in OT. He has
more debt from student loans and makes a similar salary to someone with a
bachelors degree. That being said, I am returning to school for my OTD,
however, not to increase my salary (I want to expand my knowledge base and
complete OT related research/contribute to professional knowledge base). As
for burnout, people are are speaking mostly in regards to geriatrics. SNF's
are corporate environments and revenue is important to employers; pressure is
placed on therapists due to the corporate environment. Therapists tend to make
higher salaries at SNFs, vs. other service areas; so, higher productivity is
the trade off. There are many different environments OTs work in and I love
that I am always learning something new.

Best regards,

Heather
