That is why I became an OT after being a Recreational Therapist for 17 years. - We came from the same roots - and made transition in to the medical model. We often have more skills than others - however, when we look at the educational opportunities around - we don't have some of the same courses that PTs have for example ICU training. We as OTs have the wonderful skills to make a difference - in the whole person. We as OTs have the training and expertise to get anyone to and from point A to point B to perform their occupation - of LIFE. Task analysis will show you everything that we do has a reason. You have to have the clinical skills to apply what you know and document it appropriately.
