Hi All from down under. I am an Occupational Therapist in New Zealand.

What makes us different is our focus on occupation.

I find the conversations really interesting from my Northern colleagues.

We are never going to gain professional recognition until each and every
one of us has an attitudinal change and values our profession ourselves.

I would like to see more of the stories we had some time ago- what joy
we get from being Occupational therapists, and why we continue in this,
our choice of career.

Cheers,
Jane

Subject: [OTlist] What Makes and Separates Professions?

What exactly is it that makes professions different? Obviously OT and
chiropractic are different, but what makes OT and PT different? Is it:

        1. Theory
        2. Practice location
        3. Level of education
        4. Theoretical history
        5. Types of patients
        6. Etc.

What exactly is it that makes OT and PT different? Or PT and massage
therapists? Or OT and recreation therapists, etc?

Thanks,

Ron
