Dear OTR friends, I’ve mentioned earlier on this list that I’ve obtained funding for the authorship and implementation of an mpOTR specification. I’d like to let you know that we now have three teams that are open for participants. We’ve already assigned people to work on writing the specification (cryptographers from the University of Calgary who are working with Cryptocat), but we still have openings and are looking for people to dedicate work on the following teams.
I feel the discussion regarding mpOTR at 30C3 was a good way to figure out where the community stood, and this is your opportunity to get involved! All of the individuals on those teams are expected to dedicate some hours to helping, and will be compensated within the limits of the funding we’ve obtained (Open Technology Fund). Without further ado, here are the open teams: ———————————————————————————— mpOTR Specification Reviewers: We’re looking for people to review drafts of the specification. The first draft should be ready in February. Our friends at UofCalgary are working on it right now. The people on this team will receive drafts that are not yet ready for public review but could use private review in order to be ready. Yes, the specification will be eventually open for public review! This team is the one that is charged with the phase of making sure it’s ready for public review. We’re not trying to be exclusionary, just trying to make sure we have a good product before we post a PDF here on this mailing list. We don’t expect to start implementing until at least May.
