1. stop mysql
2. edit my.cnf and change innodb_log_file_size *and make sure
innodb_fast_shutdown is set to 0 or 1*
3. restart mysql
By the way, there is usually a way to set this variable at runtime
(without restarting MySQL) if you can't afford downtime right away. Make
sure you do restart it with your edited my.cnf in a maintenance windows
to make sure the variable is OK.
