I have a similar problem (Win2003, MSSQL 2005). I traced it down to the
settings of the DefaultCharset. I guess you use utf-8. Try iso-5589-1
instead. It would be helpful for me, to eliminate the OS and DB as possible
reasons for this behaviour.

It is not helpful, because our database charset is utf-8, and with
this charset I have got a lot of error.

Could somebody tell me, is there any option to change charset
encoding/decoding to ONLY attachments?
