Just an update if anybody else should experience this problem. The problem was when the dashboard tried to load the "Product News" plug-in. I disabled the plug-in in "Sys Config -> Framework -> Frontend::Agent::Dashboard -> DashboardBackend###0000-ProductNotify" and all is good. :)
