We've got *lots* of MySQL boxes at our site and rarely have problems with
it. OTRS was trivial to configure and use with an off-box MySQL database
(RPM install needs a --nodeps to stop it from insisting that there should be
a local MySQL) and we've had no problems to date.

No experience with postgres to compare, sadly.
