Problems might include access to tickets on which the user subscribed
itself, but most importantly; in the history of the (ticket|change|faq
article...) the current user name is displayed instead of the old user
name.

In my opinion the resolution should be found in better UI for managing
accounts (not showing invalid accounts by default).
