I dunno what is so special about this cable for it to cost USD$39, but I guess if you gotta do it, you gotta do it. Personally, I reckon you are better off with a new USB printer because some inkjets seem to have a finite lifespan, and while a warranty is small comfort, but better than nothing. Thinking about it, the usb to parallel converters are about $50 anyway, so this is not that far off the mark.
