The journey with the Powermac G3 continues.

Fortuitouly (plain dumb luck), I have obtained an PCI ATI Mach64 video card. It has 4
memory chips on the card and a memory expansion module added to it that has another 4
memory chips. The date on the card is 1995 and the Apple sticker attached says 1996.
It came out of an 8600 I believe.

I would value some info on this card. I can't locate any at the ATI site (too old I
guess.)

What exactly is the memory on card or how do you check what memory is on the card?

How does it compare to the ATI Rage Pro chip on board the logic board. I have 6Mb of
VRAM installed - more dumb luck.

It seems to work OK, although a brief test of full screen playback from iMovie in OSX
indicates that video performance is a bit less than using the onboard video. Haven't
tried it in OS9 yet but will shortly.

Any suggestions as to what would be the best video card appropriate to the G3 desktop
running OSX would be appreciated.
