I have a G4 Cube with 512Mb RAM, 450MHz processor, running System 10.2.8 (and 9.2.2) which I have (tried to) upgraded to a Sonnet Encore/ST 1.2GHz G4 processor.
It freezes randomly, sometimes just after boot, sometimes it has given me up to 20 minutes before freezing.
Yes, I have installed a fan, yes, I have reformatted the HDD and given it a totally clean system, and yes, I have removed all USB and Firewire peripherals except monitor, keyboard and mouse.
Once, it came up with an error message in a ragged terminal type box in the top left of the screen stating:
System Failure: cpu=0; code=00000001 (Corrupt stack)
Latest crash info for cpu 0:
Exception state (SV=0x01811500)
PC=0x0009282C; MSR=0x00001030; DAR=0x0000000C; D31SR=0x4000000; LR=0x0009272C; R1=0x0D9E710; XCP=0x00000098 (System Failure)
Backtrace:
backtrace terminated - frame not mapped or invalid: 0x0D9E7F10
Proceeding back via exception chain: Exception state (sv=0x01811500)
This is almost as much fun as doing Linux, Novell 3.12 or MS-DOS at TAFE!!!
Any helpful suggestions? I'm trying to make my case for returning the Sonnet upgrade card - now that I have the 450MHz back in the Cube it's completely stable again.
Jim
