Hi y'all,
I recently purchased a Performa 5400 and a PowerPC 7200, both running System 7.3. I would like to install some more software on them that I downloaded from the net, but I don't have StuffIt expander, and the download from Aladdin is compressed. My macs are not connected to the net - I am burning CDs to transfer files from a net-connected PCs. Is there a solution for this?
If you only have a net connected pc it can be a problem.
I have stuffit 3 lite on a disk image that I can send you. You would need winimage, rawrite or better still winrawrite to make the image before putting the floppy into a mac, I suppose your pc has a floppy drive.
Another way could be basilisk, you could then appleshare from the pc to a mac via ethernet.
Another way, net connected mac, is to download NS which is a .sea image and installs stuffit as a helper app.
There are more ways.
THe other thing is that the 7200 is minus a hard drive. I put a Seagate Barracuda in it (4.3GB 7200 rpm), but the disk initializing program reports that it is unsupported (and man is it loud!). Before I shell out for another drive, which drives are compatible?
Try the patched version of HD setup or HDTools ect, you should be able to get it mounted. Apple would have you believe only apple romed drives will work, how very honest of them.
Take a look at Gamba's page or Jags for tools and tips.
