Hi fluff

I seem to remember from ages ago that one 'formatter' that I used [probably
FWB] had the option 'not to mount the disk'.  I used it to 'hide' a
partition that I created over a bad patch on the disk.

I suggest that you look in the menu options or maybe the 'advanced volume
settings'-type section of your format utility to see if some similar option
is or is not set.
