Network Services Senior Engineer

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

a) Know, understand, incorporate and demonstrate the Health System
Mission, Vision and Values in behaviors, practices and decisions.

b) Assist in researching, selection, evaluation, implementation,
documentation, operation, support and maintenance of hardware and
software solutions as directed.

c) Know, understand, incorporate and demonstrate all relevant Health
System Standard Operating Procedures, processes, and policies to
ensure adherence to industry and Health System standards and
established Best Practices.

d) Mentor, train, and work as a team with any associates as assigned.

e) Work within all project plans and maintain open communication with
Project Leads.

f) Provide hardware and software training, including network
communication, documentation, and other reference materials for the
Network Services Group team, Information Services and customers as
appropriate, to ensure knowledgeable and productive customers.

g) Provide technical guidance, consulting support and complex problem
resolution to Information Services and associates regarding hardware,
software and networks, including the evaluation and recommendation of
appropriate technologies. Create and maintain technical documentation.

h) Perform network installation, configuration and administrative
functions as needed. Utilize systems management software to
proactively analyze network capacity and monitor network performance.
Manage network communications, troubleshoot local and wide are network
problems.

i) Perform communications and infrastructure wiring, and use
administrative tools to monitor the network and other equipment.

j) Other duties as assigned.

k) Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Health
System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by
respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve.

l) Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider and
organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and
protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures.

m) Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or
disclosing Protected Health Information (PHI).

n) Maintains and protects patient's rights under the HIPAA Privacy
standards.

Working Conditions: a) Primary work environment is at the local site
with required travel for client support, vendor meetings and system
training.

b) Physical activity includes sitting for long periods of time while
performing primary job functions. The lifting of boxes and/or computer
equipment is required.

c) Visual activity requires ability to look at a computer screen for
long periods of time.

d) Mental activity consists of frequent detailed task performance,
subjected to interruptions and changing work priorities.

e) Office, data center and switch room environments.

f) Maintain confidential information.

g) CRT exposure.

h) 24x7 On-call as required.

i) Minimal exposure to latex environment.

j) Minimal lifting of more than 25 pounds required.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:

a) Network design certifications strongly desired (e.g. CCIE, CCMSE).

b) Bachelor's degree, with five years experience in Information
Systems; with at least two years in a directly related position
preferred.

c) Seven years in Information Systems; with at least two years in a
directly related position preferred.

d) Must have experience in Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network
(LAN), and telecommunications technologies. Detailed knowledge or
certification in network engineering, communication/network protocols,
technologies and industry standards. Must have worked in a significant
LAN/WAN environment. Detailed knowledge of communications protocols,
technologies and industry standards.

e) Demonstrated analytical skills for complex network problem
resolution.

f) Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skill, to
interact with customers, IS leadership, staff and vendors.

g) Demonstrated presentation skills, to assist in presenting
information to staff and management.

h) Demonstrated ability to interact with many people of differing
professional levels; to be involved in multiple projects
simultaneously; and to succeed in an environment of competing
priorities.

i) Project management experience (e.g. PMI certification) is a plus.

j) Best Practices experience (e.g. Six Sigma, 5S and/or LEAN
certification preferred) is a plus.

k) Knowledge and understanding of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL),
Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) or related Infrastructure
Lifecycle Management processes and solutions.

l) Strong commitment to customer service and quality improvement.

m) Healthcare experience is a plus.
