Software Test Engineer – QA Analyst Will be responsible for applying quality assurance methodology and CMM principals to ensure the quality of software development projects as it relates to the company’s crew planning and scheduling software. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Performs quality assurance functions covering full software development life-cycle, including development and implementation of manual and automated test plans and test scripts. * Collaborates with Product Development and Project Management teams to ensure quality of applications. * Performs full system and integration tests, to include functional and regression tests. * Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects and questionable functions in application functionality. * Develops detailed test cases and test plans for work within a test project. * Executes test plans, scripts, and test cases accurately and effectively. * Communicates test results in a timely manner to the appropriate audience. * As required, escalates issues to ensure that customer needs are met and project deadlines achieved. * Reviews functional and design specification documents with attention to detail. * Manages defect-tracking process for assigned projects, ensuring issues are resolved and documented. * Investigates defect reports and assists in conducting root cause analysis. * Develops scripts to automate testing for performance and functional tests. * Assists customers with user acceptance testing. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline, and 5+ years of hands-on experience working in a structured QA environment is essential, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience working in a Unix or multi-tiered environment is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a background in both manual and automated testing practices. Previous success working under limited supervision in a complex technical environment is helpful. * Proven success in applying analytical skills during the requirements phase of software development. * Demonstrated ability to effectively document testing scenarios and results. * Able to develop effective test plans and test cases in a fast-paced, multiple project environment. * Must possess well-developed communication skills (written and verbal) to work effectively with developers, project managers, and customers. * Proficiency in developing scripts in Rational Robot and QuickTest Pro (QTP) is required. * Proficiency in Visual Basic or VBScript, as well as Quality Center workflow development/administration is essential. * Prior experience with Mercury Suite (QTP / LoadRunner) and C programming is preferred. * Verifiable understanding of database design, and ability to write SQL queries is necessary.
