Senior Director of Software Development Job Responsibilities and Qualifications : Successful candidates will possess the following qualifications: • Hybrid of technical visionary and a business manager who is able to develop and manage an outstanding software engineering organization while serving as counsel to business leaders – demonstrated interest and belief in the intersection of technology and business. • Proven ability to define, design for, and meet high service levels for site performance and rapid scaling. • Advanced knowledge of strategic planning, system analysis/design, and programming techniques along with related technical support activities. • Excellent analysis and communication skills to work effectively with multiple stakeholders, to synthesize information, to present appropriate recommenda¬tions and manage the product development cycle (design, code, source control, quality assurance, test and deployment) to completion within tight timelines. • Exceptionally strong interpersonal, negotiation, influence and relationship management skills that enable collaborative working relationships to be developed with other business units. • Demonstrated ability & experience working in a matrixed environment; proven experience building and managing development teams. Specific Technology & Methodology Knowledge Requirements: • Working knowledge of .Net, UNIX, AJAX, SQL server 2005, JAVA and JAVA script, Visual Studio 2005. • Prior experience working in different development methodology including SCRUM / Agile, Waterfall and Iterative. • Demonstrated success working in multi client server web applications. • Expert knowledge of software platforms and connections to usage of Internet system. Education & Experience: • BS degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent – preferred. • 7+ years as a professional developer; 10+ years as a Sr. Development Manager for Web based applications. • 5+ years of managing managers The Senior Director of Software Development leads the technology team in the efficient, on-time delivery of high quality software products and tools and insures the continuous maintenance and improvement of our existing services while overseeing all aspects of the organization’s technology trends. The Director, along with business stakeholders, sets the prioritization of projects and assigns them across the team insuring the most effective allocation of development and engineering resources. Finally, you will participate as a full- partner with other team leaders to set company strategies and priorities. As the Senior Director of Software Development at RCD, you will be responsible for all Software Development initiatives and processes for the US and Canadian operations. Key roles include: • Full P&L responsibility for the Development area; Provide ROI on activities, projects and initiatives. • Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization. Insure clear communication of strategy to teams with clear articulation of their roles and deliverables. • Direct the software engineering function in developing, releasing, and maintaining software applications according to business needs. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Software Development teams providing leadership, communication, prioritization, and decision-making activities to optimize intra- and inter-departmental performance. Champion Development / Quality -centric problems and issues, prioritizing and implementing solutions and/or resolutions as quickly and effectively as possible. • Suggests alternative technical solutions to meet client requirements more efficiently, and/or with greater reusability, and / or longer life. Insure fulfillment of continual product improvement and new offerings consistent with customer needs and industry trends.
