Oracle Developer With Perl Scripting Exp
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Duration: 6-9 month contract position
Summary: Develops POD (Print on Demand) implementations, ad hoc queries and
scripts for new POD implementations, modifies existing POD implementations
for both old and new POD Platforms using PL/SQL for Oracle 10g and Perl.
Essential Duties/Tasks:
* Develops client implementations according to specified business
rules where appropriate.
* Participates in re-engineering effort for production team including
but not limited to: building new automation, documenting existing and future
processes, tool research and other activities as required.
* Assists with troubleshooting daily, weekly, and monthly production
runs. Specific activities include production monitoring, troubleshooting,
and file processing where required.
* Performs other ad hoc production tasks such as modifying scripts
and/or web sites, building new files, etc as needed.
* Provides 3rd tier support for client services in the form of
research and queries.
* Provides support for sales, finance and product management in the
form of queries and scripts.
* Works closely with Implementation team, Production team and
Engineering team to accomplish tasks.
* Works toward zero-defects in all production work.
Knowledge of Industry, Product, and Technology:
* Minimum 5 years experience with PL/SQL including queries using
multi-table manipulations as well as writing stored procedures
* 2 years Perl scripting including writing new Perl scripts from
scratch, not just modifying existing scripts.
* 2 years experience with Windows OS and Oracle 10g
* Good working knowledge of XML.
Education and other Qualifications
* BA/BS in computer science or information systems or equivalent
experience.
* miniumum 5-7 years of experience in software development, technical
operations, or IT.
* Good communication capabilities.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Drive to understand how things work.
* Ability to quickly assimilate technical information and prioritize
which issues are key to business operations.
* Passion for improving things and making them better.
