If you are a Linux Engineer with expert SUSE experience we have a long term consulting opportunity. Provide operating system administration (configure mail systems, configure and install systems, provide security administration, install third party software). Design and configure high availability solutions to include multiple cluster configurations and support. REQUIRED SKILLS: Minimum 5 years experience as a Unix System Engineer (SUSE) Solid understanding of a UNIX-based operating system Understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and what device drivers do, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions). Familiarity with fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts; can configure NFS; can use nslookup or dig to check information in the DNS; understands basic routing concepts. Has a solid understanding of High Availability (HA) solutions and design. Able to design and configure HA solutions to include multiple cluster configurations and support. Fundamental knowledge of SAN attached storage; for example, HBAs, multipathing and other associated concepts Intimate knowledge of Logical Volume Manager (LVM) configuration and usage. Ability to write scripts in some administrative language (Tk, Perl, VBScript, a shell). Ability to do minimal debugging and modification of C programs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Builds, defines and documents new standards, processes and procedures. Provides documentation for new builds to be done in the environment. Independent problem-solving, self-direction. On-call off hours call rotation required!
