The Enterprise Data Architect is a skilled and dedicated resource to
analyze the companies (structured and un-structured) data and
information requirements, identify technical approaches, formulate
data designs, and recommend architectures that satisfy the
requirements.  Architectures must ensure data integrity, performance,
scalability and high-availability.  Primary focus is on enterprise
strategy and direction as well as execution.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Develop expert knowledge of companies business and problem/solution
domain
- Define data, information and underlying technology (taxonomy/DB)
roadmap
- Develop enterprise-level conceptual, logical and physical data
models working in concert with Development and sponsor consensus/
approval
- Establish data/database architecture guiding principles and design
goals;  Socialize for acceptance
- Facilitate and review enterprise wide data dictionaries and
taxonomies; again, working closely with Development and other domain
experts.
- Establish information models, data flows and data life-cycles
throughout the enterprise architecture
- Analyze and specify standards based data exchange with 3rd parties
(e.g., XML, XBRL)
- Identify data integration opportunities
- Collaborate with Infrastructure on taxonomy/database infrastructure
specifications
- Evaluate, recommend and select taxonomy/database tools & utilities
- Establish formal policies and procedures for Data Model review and
approval
- Identify and implement best practices, tools and standards (ER
modeling, normalization, data security, etc)
- Manage data architecture, data quality, data standards and data
structures
- Facilitate database performance, scale and availability activities


- Bachelors &/or Masters degree with concentration in a technical
field
- Minimum of 10 years experience with information
management technologies
- Proven background in the design and implementation of large scale
and complex custom application development systems (e.g.,
transactional and data warehouse).
- Proven knowledge and hands-on experience modeling, designing, and
developing Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL Server based databases.   Experience
with other databases such as UDB, Informix, as well as Active
Directory is a plus.
- Proven broad technical knowledge of data architectures and strong
understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle and methodologies.
- Strong experience in object-oriented design, XML, distributed
systems, Internet/intranet strategies j2ee frameworks and services
oriented architecture.
- Experience with deployment on SAN storage hardware.
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written






The Enterprise Data Architect’s (EDAs)
Key Responsibilities:
1.      Define and implement overall modelling standards, guidelines, best
practices and approved modelling techniques and approaches. Direct
Responsibility.
2.      Plan, document and present enterprise data architecture-related
strategies such as structured, unstructured and metadata. Direct
Responsibility
3.      The creation of physical and logical data models in the
organisation leveraging resources within the current team. Direct
Responsibility.
4.      Support the development of the IT Strategies and their alignment
with the Business Strategies. Shared Responsibility.
5.      Create and maintain an approach to enterprise data governance.
Direct Responsibility
6.      Formalise a Program Management approach integrated with Governance,
SDLC, Change Management and closer Business Alignment for the Data
Systems. Direct Responsibility
7.      Create and maintain enterprise-level data architecture artifacts.
Direct Responsibility
8.      Create and communicate data architecture, data quality, and data
integration policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures throughout
the organisation. Direct Responsibility
9.      Create and maintain data environment performance attributes in
order to ensure optimal performance of the organisation's data
environment. Shared Responsibility 10. Participate in all data
integration and enterprise information management (EIM) programs and
projects by rationalising data processing for reusable module
development. Shared Responsibility.

Technical Skills:
Data Modelling Data Manipulation Data Rationalisation Systems and
Programs: Microsoft Office ERWin or similar

Leadership and Management:
1.      Mentors and coaches employees to facilitate technical and business
knowledge.
2.      Leads, manages and motivates others to achieve required performance
goals and maximise results.
3.      Delegates appropriately and effectively.
4.      Creates, manages and influences virtual teams.
5.      Exhibits strong influencing skills with Senior IT and Business
Stakeholders.

Experience:
1.      Extensive experience of the Data Architecture discipline, in a
large and preferably global organisation.
2.      Extensive data modelling, manipulation and rationalisation
experience within complex environments.
3.      Broad and in-depth experience of complex data environments design
4.      Considerable experience of SOA based Enterprise Data architectures
