*Senior Cognos Architect
Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated and able to excel in a fast-paced
environment. Should have the ability to prioritize tasks and work
concurrently on multiple tasks. Should have the ability to create
value-added relationships with project team, business team members and other
IT teams both at the executive and technology levels.

Professional Experience:
• Degree in Information Technology
• Sr. Consultant with a minimum of 6 years of experience using Cognos 8.
• Strong data modeling, data architecture and analytical skills
• 3-5 years of experience in Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing, out of
which 2-3 years of experience as Cognos report developer.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience with any one or more of the following
databases: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, DB2, Teradata.
• Experience in cognos powerplay, cubes development, cognos impromptu report
and catalog development.
• Experienced in designing and developing standard reporting and ad-hoc
reporting environments
• Expert in architecting Cognos multi-dimensional cube solutions
• Experienced Implementing techniques for executing nightly reports and
cubes
• Experienced in performance enhancing techniques for Cognos reports
• Experienced in developing Framework Manager models, leveraging Cognos
recommended design techniques
• Experience with the Cognos SDK
• Strong SQL skills.
• Experienced with work estimates and work planning.
• Good with structured and lateral thinking in order to provide multiple
options and recommend the best suited option.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the development teams,
management and business users
• Ability to assign development tasks and monitor, improve, and report on
the Cognos development process / progress
• Ability to take a holistic view of the problem and see the big picture
• An approachable and knowledgeable mentor to other Cognos developers
• Minimum 3 years experience in predictive analytics; strong background in
reporting and analytics, statistics and forecasting, within insurance
business context, would be an asset
• Experience working with Advanced Visualization and Dash boarding tools
considered an asset

Specific Responsibilities Includes
• Design and implement a robust security architecture which will include
both low level security and object security.
• Optimization of reporting solutions.
• Guiding the report developer(s) to implement reports that meet the
business requirements.
• Handling complete range of BI capabilities: reporting, analysis, score
carding, dashboards and event management.
• Provide best practices for day to day operations, performance analysis,
tuning and capacity planning.
• Collect data reasonability, data inquiry and ad-hoc reporting requirements
and document them in the business requirements document.
• Prepare Cognos test strategy based on Cognos design.
• Prepare Cognos test scenarios based on Cognos design.
• Estimate development, testing timeframes based on Cognos design.
• Work with onshore and offshore team, effectively and efficiently.
• Work with end users and understand problems, and provide resolutions.
• Understand the new report needs, document those and implement them.*
