Job description : Acting as a subject matter expert, change agent and educator to delivery services team in the disciplines of data management. Estimation and support for project level efforts. Working on multiple projects simultaneously. Contribution and supporting the improvement of internal and external processes. Represents the organization as the principal customer contact on contracts and often performs project leadership role. Contribution to Data Engineering process improvement and metrics Compliance with policies and security requirements Delivering third normal form logical data models compliant with corporate data naming and quality standards Utilize ER Studio to generate and maintain data models and data base structures Design logical and physical models for maintainability, reliability and performance for transactional, operational and dimensional database structures Interaction and reconciliation of existing physical data models, enterprise canonical & project logical models Adding Capacity metrics to the model for storage estimates Analyzing data usage for performance tuning changes (partitioning, MQTs, Indices, Tablespace reallocation)Reviewing Implementation plans Conducting Model reviews with DBA and Project teams Follow DDL standards – naming conventions, column order, metadata inclusion, indexing, tablespaces, referential integrity constraints, default values, column check constraints, primary keys, permissions for targeted database environments Model versioning and change control management Baselining, promotion and migration of DDL into development, test, integration, user acceptance and production stages in new development and for enhancements Creating, updating and monitoring deployment tickets with Baseline Ids, DDL files Validating and notifying DBAs and Project teams of deployment readiness Validating Deployments and analyzing and resolving deployment errors Creating Production Ready Permissions Skills: (8+ years of experience) Expert level knowledge of logical, physical transactional and dimensional database design Normalization and Denormalization Expert level knowledge to reverse and re-engineer, reconcile and transform models from various levels and lifecycle stages (enterprise to logical to multiple physical) Knowledge of Oracle 11G, SQL Server, Sybase, UDB and other database platforms Subject matter expertise with ER Studio or ER Win tools to capture data requirements in logical models, and propagate business rules through the implementation of physical data models Knowledge of messaging interchange, XML and XML Databases Working knowledge of Clearcase/Clearquest for DDL change management control and migration Solid understanding and ability to capture business and technical metadata Good communication/writing/presentation skills Excellent analytical and problem solving skills Self Starter and Team Player Preferred Skills: Knowledge of Data Management best practices and procedures Ability to contribute to and support data strategy and standards.
