*DURATION: 1 year* *Job Description (Software Engineer )* *Responsibilities* § Become a domain expert in one or more electric/water/gas meter manufacturer data interfaces/specifications § Design and implement key modules, enhancements, and evolution of existing products and new products § Explore product requirements to understand technical difficulties, recommend implementation approaches, and design solutions § Lead effectively in both functional/technical group discussions with fellow developers § Act as the technical lead in requirements definition meetings with the Product team as needed § Required Skills § Energetic, inspired, dedicated, passionate about software development § A self-starter who has the ability and willingness to learn new material quickly and perform in a fast paced environment § A great team player and sociable § Ability and willingness to take ownership of projects, and help drive them to effective implementation § Strong attention to detail § Strong communication and reading skills to discuss complex problems and to understand and implement against detailed meter manufacturer specifications § Strong grasp of bit manipulation (shifting, masking, setting, clearing), signed vs. unsigned data types, and endian issues *Required Experience* § BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent § 5-10 years of relevant experience building consumer-facing web technologies § 3+ years’ experience in the design of object oriented systems. Deep understanding of design patterns & data modeling § Proven and demonstrable experience designing and implementing enterprise scale, high volume, high availability systems § Experience with JAVA required § Deep expertise in J2EE and distributed, multi-threaded programming § Experience with SQL, JDBC, and Oracle § Experience with Eclipse and Java Spring Framework is a plus § Comfortable in a Unix environment.
