*Title : Business Objects XI Senior Administrator/Developer Location : Chicago, IL (Local to IL Only) Duration : 7+Months Rate : $50/Hr* Responsibilities: • Create, administer and maintain BO XI user/groups security profiles in accordance to the standards, security restrictions and business requirements; keep up-to-date system configuration documentation. • Monitor environments’ performance, pipeline, search for possible issues, support users’ system problems, troubleshoot and provide resolution. • Install, configure and support BO suite software media on users’ desktops and servers. Implementation of upgrades and patches as well as hardware and software integration. • Work with individual users to provide BO guidelines and recommendations; develop long term relationship and customer trust. • Plan for and perform code migration; execute all processes related to the process in accordance to standard guidelines. • Participate in disaster recovery planning, system maintenance and capacity planning procedures. • Document various operational processes and required training/instructional materials applicable to users, developers and administrators. • Research BO best practices and work independently to resolve issues; escalate to management and other teams as needed. • Perform BO code reviews (reports/universes) to ensure proper design, standard, content and functionality. • Participate on project teams. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or related field. • At least 2-4 years system support and troubleshoot. • 2-4 years BO System administration experience. Broad knowledge of clients-server application administration concepts, practices and procedure. • Min. 2 years database/Data Warehousing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve problems. • Additional knowledge of SQL and programming skills PL/SQL, Java, .NET will be considered strength. Skills: • Have at least 2 years of hands-on experience with BO XI (R2/3.1) Administration in a customized BO XI security environment on the UNIX platform (Solaris/AIX). • Solid understanding of BO multi-tier environment (Client, Client-Server, and Server Application, Processing, Data Structure and Flow) and their role in BO XI architecture. • Executed at least one large scale BO XI (R2/3.1) migration project being involved in all aspects of the migration including user and object migration, dependencies, maintenance, technical support, security and troubleshooting processes. Solid experience in using BO XI Import/Migration Wizard tool. • Solid understanding and experience in working with BO multi-server group infrastructure and BO XI project migration across multiple environments. • Proven design and build of user security group and folder structure with respect to its inheritance behavior and business security requirements. • Experience in Universe Design, WebI/DeskI/Crystal report building, publishing to InfoView and using Scheduler. • Good understanding and involvement in troubleshooting of different database connectivity to the BO application server. • Worked with Web Infrastructure (Firewalls, Web Server and Application Server): understanding of port assignment configuration and their functional role in the BO application. • Solid understanding of browser (IE) role in BO architecture and configuration. • Hands-on UNIX experience (Solaris/Aix).
