* * *Location*: New York, NY *Duration*: 6 Months *Role Overview:** *Client is looking for the Data Analyst with a broad knowledge of financial products such as equities, fixed income products, derivatives, etc. Familiarity with trade and position data is strongly desired. *Responsibilities include:* - Document existing Data Flows and future data architecture - Analyze changes to existing systems - Interact with the business users, PMG, DEV & QA team and various IT departments - Create data dictionary - Negotiate on data feed format, content and timing with source systems - Meet with data source teams and downstream application teams periodically to discuss data needs and issues - Produce data related statistics - Ensure that all stakeholders are involved in Pre studies and definition phases and that all tasks required to implement a solution are identified in the project plans submitted for approval. - Lead design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow - Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems - Create systems models, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to application and system developers. - Identify and establish scope and parameters of business analysis in order to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions - Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and other post-implementation support - When applicable, Produce project documentation and provide project reports - Write SQL queries and packages to perform data analysis - Requirements gathering, Functional and Non-Functional specifications - Perform data analysis (trade, position, entity/book/customer/account, product reference & HR data) - Analyze data exceptions & resolve exceptions by engaging the data sources - QA Testing, UAT Coordination *To Qualify You Must Possess:* - 5-10 Years of IT Experience - 3+ Years of Financial Services Experience - BS / BA Required in Business or Computer Science - Certified Business Analyst certification will be a plus - Good Knowledge of Financial Products and Market Data. Specifically Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivative instruments. - Technically proficient in Microsoft Office products, MS Project and Visio. SQL skills a must - Good understanding of financial instruments trading - Specific knowledge in Position Limit Monitoring, Global Control Room and Trade Surveillance a plus - Good understanding of global data warehouse and interaction with referential data - Good analytical skills - Negotiation, interaction and communication skills to work both with the client and IT - Ability to “own” work streams and follow through to completion - Ability to manage expectations; retain a positive attitude, drive process and be a “self-starter” Desired Skills - SDLC/CMM/CSP+ knowledge is highly desirable.
