We have over $100 billion in assets under management, across a wide variety
of investment vehicle including fixed income, equities, commercial
mortgages, etc. Investment’s key business processes include portfolio
management, asset allocation, trading, risk management and financial
accounting. Supporting these processes across this wide product spread
requires a rich and complex data environment.
The data architect will be responsible for the governance of our key data
assets, and the data architecture and design needed to support the
associated business needs. Specifically, the data architect will:

·         Serve as chief architect of data repositories (warehouses, ODS,
datamarts), designer of schemas and of data flow within the organization

·         Analyze and document these architectures and designs

·         Lead our data governance body, and drive work in defining data
standards, designing asset and portfolio classification taxonomies,
developing data management processes, ensuring meta-data is documented, etc.


·         Frame the business case around complex architecture and design
options

·         Manage vendor relationships to such 3rd party data management
products and vendors as we utilize
Education and Experience

·         Requires a BS or equivalent experience (MS preferred) in a
technical / engineering degree program

·         Requires 8 or more years of database development work, 4 or more
in the capital markets space
Strong Oracle DBMS, PL/SQL and overall relational database development
experience

·         Strong conceptual, logical and physical data modeling and data
architecture experience

·         Experience modeling in the capital markets domain one or more of
the following: security reference data, market data (prices, etc.), trade /
position data, risk data

·         Experience with trouble-shooting database issues related to
performance, query plans, etc.

·         Excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to influence
customers and DBAs

·         Familiarity with data modeling tools (e.g. Erwin) to express ER
relationships

·         SQL Server and/or Sybase experience a plus but not required

·         Experience with commercial data management products in capital
markets(e.g. Eagle, Golden Source, CADIS) highly desirable
