The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology
Division is seeking a Web / Application Developer to join the Roadway
Network System (RNS) team. The selected candidate will:
- Provide support for existing enterprise geospatial application
- Recommend operational support enhancements to improve efficiency &
effectiveness of system
- Assist in analyzing business workflows and develop web technologies to
solve problems
- Ensure all applications adhere to strict accuracy and quality
specifications
- Follow existing and contribute to the development of creative and
functional standards
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic, and professional environment
Experienced web developer who can creatively design, develop, implement, and
maintain custom web applications as part of the software development life
cycle in an enterprise environment; strong understanding of web services
concepts; experience in working in a team environment with other developers;
assist in the compilation of technical specifications and application
support documentation; interface with internal business units in determining
functional and usability requirements for managing, manipulating, and
visualizing business and spatial data; ability to work effectively with
others in a team environment to successfully deliver quality projects;
capacity to communicate verbally and in written form thoughts, ideas, and
information of a technical nature in a logical, organized, and coherent
manner; ability to produce consistent, predictable, and reliable work
products that meet deadlines; knowledge of transportation industry standards
and practices, and experience in ESRI ArcGIS software is a plus; Bachelor or
higher degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or
similar.
