Ensure that the core devices are fully operational to support 10,000 users in North America* *· Assist in establishing standards for all networking devices including routers, switches, CSU/DSU’s* *· Maintain all hardware and software configurations for routers and switches* *· Develop test plans and implementation documents* *· Test all changes to standard configurations (new revisions), and make recommendations for implementation* *· Evaluates network processes, implement performance monitoring tools and makes recommendations based on business and functional requirements* *· Implementation and integration of network solutions provided by the technology solutions team* *· Daily monitoring of all network logs to ensure the integrity of the network* *· Monitor network traffic and run data captures when needed* *· Manage and maintain core network connections in the data center* *· IOS management and review to ensure all versions running in production are compliant* *· Act as a higher level of support to the Network Engineer on more complex and possibly chronic troubles working through resolution* *· Participate in the design and recovery of systems through backup operations or Disaster recovery planning* *· Prepare clear, professional written technical and process documentation for new and existing technologies and practices* *· Must be able to work with varying levels of expertise (some persons with minimal understanding of the technology in use)* *· Ensure effective project planning, monitoring, issue resolution and achievement of specified quality, timelines, cost and deliverables* *· Overall accountability for projects assigned to ensure completion in a timely manner* *· Person will participate in 24 x 7 support * * * *Technical Skills Required:* *· Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, SNMP, EIGRP and OSPF * *· Advanced knowledge of Cisco Routers and switch concepts and commands* *· Experience working in mission-critical environment* *· Advanced knowledge with installation, configuration and support of Cisco and 3Com Routers and Switches.* *· Advanced knowledge working with WAN and LAN Architectures and equipment. (Ethernet Cabling, Frame Relay, Networking Essentials)* *· Advanced knowledge in Visio, Excel and Word, as well as Windows O/S.* *· Advanced experience with UNIX O/S and Unix Scripting* *· Advanced experience with Network Management applications such as: HP Openview and Cisco Works* *· Strong knowledge of large connectivity (T3, OC3, OC12, OC48) ATM* *· Strong knowledge of Spanning tree and VLANS* *· Strong knowledge with EIGRP and BGP routing protocols* *· Strong knowledge with Internet connectivity, Firewalls, Filtering and VPN technology* *· Advanced knowledge with Packet sniffers, and trace analysis* *· Advanced knowledge of High-end routers and switches such as 6000 series Cisco switches and 7000 series Cisco Routers* * * *Minimal Skills Required:* *· Proven knowledge/competency in the above Technical Skills requirements.
