The Course Scheduling software will be modified/enhanced over the next several months to incorporate UCB specific requirements. This position is to fill a Python skills gap as well as to provide backfill support for Ruby On Rails development as needed to keep the Course Scheduling project on track. The highest priority is to obtain a skilled Python developer. Ruby on Rails is highly desired. Contractor Skill Requirements Contractor must be an experienced Python and/or Ruby programmer. Candidate must have 3 years experience with developing web systems using Python/Django and/or ROR. Required: * Python/Django * JavaScript / JQuery * HTML and CSS * Git and SVN Highly desired: * Ruby/ROR * Rspec * Apache * Postgres * Linux Key Deliverables for UC Berkeley Ninja Course Implementation, ongoing support, and knowledge transfer to permanent UCB IT staff. To be completed by March 2011. Work Tasks for Python Contractor: 1. Refactor Student System’s Schedule Builder application as needed. 2. Develop scheduled enhancements to functionality. 3. Respond to bug fixes. 4. Implement integration with Course web services. 5. Integrate with other use interfaces/portals (BearFacts, TeleBears, Commons). 6. Create automated unit test scripts, work with load engineer on performance testing. 7. Utilize development tools and services to create robust development methodology: confluence, jira, Hudson (continuous integration), etc… 8.
