Position: Cognos BI Developer Location: Raleigh/Durham, NC Duration: 6 Months Start Date: ASAP *Environment:* Cognos 8, BI applications, OLAP, SQL, Data Modeling, Report Studio, Transformer, Query Studio, Framework Manager, Analysis Studio, Metrics Studio, Informatica, ETL tools *Description of Duties: * * Design, develop, implement, and maintain Business Intelligence reports and applications using Cognos 8 Business Intelligence tools. * Work with users to analyze business intelligence requirements and translate them into analytical and reporting solution specifications. * Assist in installation, administration, upgrades, documentation, and maintenance of the Cognos system infrastructure. * Provide support to end users for ad hoc reporting using the Cognos BI tool suite including Report Studio, Query Studio, Framework Manager, Analysis Studio, and Metrics Studio * Assist in the design and development of OLAP data models and Cognos cubes. * Provide production support to various BI applications. * Successful development, testing, and implementation of Cognos and other BI applications * Maintaining and support of the BI environments * Effective support of end user ad hoc reporting *Experience: * * 8 years experience in business intelligence and data warehousing development and support * In-depth knowledge and at least 5 years hands-on development and administrative experience with Cognos * Cognos reporting tool suite versions 7 and 8 (Report Studio, Framework Manager, Analysis Studio, Query Studio, Metrics Studio, Transformer, and PowerPlay. * Expert knowledge of (SQL) structured query language * Detailed knowledge and understanding of relational, OLAP, dimensional data models and BI/DW architecture. * Strong systems design, testing, coding, analysis and debugging skills. * Strong problem solving, analytical and communication skills. *Skills Desired:* * Experience with Data modeling, ERwin and/or similar tools. * Experience with ETL tools e.g. Informatica * Perl Scripting.
