*Nexus/DCN Network Consultant Engineer*
The ideal candidate is a creative problem solver, comfortable with
challenging the status quo and rapidly responding to escalated issues. The
following are the skills our NCEs develop and utilize:

   - *The core of this engagement will be focused on the Nexus fabric path
   environment based on Nexus 6K, 5K and 2k.  The goals are: *
      - *1.  Assist with stabilizing the existing FP environment *
      - *2.  Assist with migration from Catalyst data center environment to
      Nexus FP environment (Brownfield migration) *
      - *3. Provide MAC support for existing FP environment.*
         - *This both a Brownfield or Greenfield environment.*
      - Excellent Customer Relationship Management (CRM) skills
   - Provide consultative, proactive and/or reactive support to customers
   to solve their complex and critical data center network issues.
   - Act as Tech Lead / SME for the NEXUS/DCN Data Center infrastructure
   - Provides customers with solutions in the area of Nexus/DCN
   architecture, design, implementation, and operation support.
   - Provides configuration analysis and best practice recommendations to
   optimize customer’s data center Nexus environment include planned NEXUS/DCN
   initiatives that meet the customer business requirements.


   - Software (NXOS) recommendations and upgrade support
   - Provide Architecture, Design, and Implementation reviews
   - Plans and supports highly complex NEXUS/DCN build, upgrade and
   migration change activities
   - Problem Escalation support (Coordination with Cisco TAC)
   - DC Nexus assessment; Hardware & Configuration Audits


*Technical Minimum Requirements:*
*Key Domain expertise: Ability to Design, Deploy, Manage, Maintain and
Operate an End-to-End DCN Nexus Environment.*

Networking: OSI Layer 2 (Spanning tree, vPC, EtherChannel, VLAN, etc),
Layer 3 switching /routing (OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, BGP, MPLS, IPv4/6), DNS/DHCP
WAN/ISP, network virtualization (N1kv, VRF), basics of higher layer
protocols: SSL/TLS, HTTP, real-time traffic (voice/video), NFS, database
access protocols

   - Demonstrate expert level knowledge of Cisco’s Data Center Product
   Line: *Nexus Products (N9K, N7K, N6K, N5k, N2k, N1kV), *including all
   available modules and line cards citing key differences between them.
   - 5+ years of professional hands-on Nexus experience, preferably with
   Nexus design, architecture and administration.
   - Strong understanding of DCN concepts including OTV, Fabric Path, LISP,
   VPC, VDC, VRF’s.
   - Ability to clearly articulate DCN concepts and strategies around
   software migrations, 0 downtime upgrades, failure scenarios in
   multi-chassis environments, etc.
   - Broad technical knowledge of the data center and its components:
   Applications, Storage, Network, Server and projects surrounding their
   planning, design, implementation, operation, and optimization.
   - Understanding and conceptual knowledge of ACI is a big plus.
   - Experience with scripting languages such as Perl, Python, or Bash.
   Python experience is also a plus.

   - Passionate, persuasive, charismatic thought leader capable of quickly
   establishing executive interest in how to architect, deploy and operate the
   virtualized data center of the future.
   - Understands and can articulate the value and business advantage of
   data center virtualization techniques and cloud architectures
   - Strong customer-facing communication and articulation skills.
   - Many years of consulting experience


*Non-Technical Requirements:*

   - Excellent understanding of the industry landscape (competitors and
   partners)
   - High-level, out-of-the-box thinking, analytical reasoning, and
   creative problem solving skills.
   - Ability to shift from high-level thinking to realistic and pragmatic
   execution is essential.
   - Solid understanding of the end-to-end IT process, including
   architecture, design & engineering, implementation, and operations;
   - Excellent written and verbal communications skills: ability to
   communicate technology strategy and architecture approach to engineers,
   executives, and Cisco customers.
   - Willingness and ability to work with teams, ability to build
   relationships using an open and respectful communication and collaboration
   style.
   - Communication skills to include conflict management, negotiation,
   presentation/demonstration, and written communication.
