The OVS libraries you're building OVN with have have no dependency on version of the OVS binaries (ovs-vswitchd, ovsdb-server, etc.) OVN communicates with in runtime. Should be backwards and forwards compatible in runtime with any modern version of OVS, since JSON-RPC and OpenFlow are, of course with some features potentially not supported when paired with an old enough version of OVS. Note that it is also not recommended to use the submodule version of OVS for the actual runtime OVS binaries. Submodule is only for building OVN. This is covered in the docs: https://docs.ovn.org/en/latest/intro/install/general.html#build-requirements Best regards, Ilya Maximets. > Your answer will help me settle a friendly debate with a colleague... :) > > Thank you ! > > Michal Arbet > Openstack Engineer > > Ultimum Technologies a.s. > Na Poříčí 1047/26, 11000 Praha 1 > Czech Republic > > +420 604 228 897 > [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> > _https://ultimum.io <https://ultimum.io/>_ > > LinkedIn <https://www.linkedin.com/company/ultimum-technologies> | Twitter > <https://twitter.com/ultimumtech> | Facebook > <https://www.facebook.com/ultimumtechnologies/timeline> > > > út 20. 10. 2026 v 18:04 odesílatel Ilya Maximets <[email protected] > <mailto:[email protected]>> napsal: > > On 10/20/26 4:49 PM, Michal Arbet via dev wrote: > > Hi, > > Hi, Michal. > > > OVN v26.03.2 and v26.03.3 point their ovs submodule to 45ee6f7d9 on > > branch-3.7 and need ea7f2165889f ("packets: Add support for unicast ND > > NS compose.") to build.
