That's a surprise to me.  That change should not have had an externally
visible effect.

If I had to guess what's happening, it's that in v2.15 the IDL is not
initially getting the full contents of the database, but instead
reporting that it has the full contents of the database when in fact it
doesn't have anything.  Thus, it deletes everything from the datapath,
and later recreates it.  That should not be happening, and if it's
happening then it's a bug.

Can you verify that that's what happening, or otherwise explore this a
little further?  If you can get some details for me symptom-wise, I'll
look into what happened code-wise.
