Hi Mark, Han, Numan, all,
According to our 2025 release calendar [0] we are supposed to branch for
25.03.0 tomorrow, February 7th.
AFAICT the current state of features/user-visible changes that were
posted for review before soft freeze and not yet merged to the main
branch is:
1. [ovs-dev] northd: Use lower priority for all src routes.
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/patch/[email protected]/
- submitter: Han
- reviews: acked by Dumitru
- pending items: do we have confirmation from ovn-kubernetes
(Tim in CC) that this change doesn't break any existing behavior?
2. [ovs-dev,v2] northd: Options to pass conntrack for stateless and LB.
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/patch/[email protected]/
- submitter: Alexandra Rukomoinikova
- reviews: clarification requested by Dumitru - not sure whether
we need this new option or not
3. [ovs-dev,v4] ic: Fix vxlan encap mode.
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/patch/b7080e51b6a4b870500e1a6c468fb4ab7448f3f8.1738344059.git.lorenzo.bianc...@redhat.com/
- submitter: Lorenzo Bianconi
- reviews: Dumitru requested small changes; Vladislav to confirm this
doesn't break any of their OVN-IC deployments with VXLAN
4. [ovs-dev,v4] northd: Add ipv6_{src, dst} to selection_fields column in the
NB db.
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/patch/1069ee6128e088ba675ac35f95c97a52326c02c1.1738523443.git.lorenzo.bianc...@redhat.com/
- submitter: Lorenzo Bianconi
- reviews: Ilya reviewed v3, v4 needs another round of reviews
I plan to review/merge this today.
5. OVN Fabric integration. [v6]
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/list/?series=442795&state=*
- submitter: Felix Huettner, Frode Nordahl
- reviews: Dumitru, Lorenzo, Frode, Martin
- pending items: v7 incoming; IMO it probably is in a good shape
to be accepted this week
6. Advertise Routes for LB and NAT VIPs. [v3]
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/list/?series=442912&state=*
- submitter: Martin Kalcok
- reviews: Frode, Felix; I plan to review this today too
- note: it's marked as RFC but that's only because it is built on
top of the "OVN Fabric integration." series; IMO it has a good
chance of getting merged too
7. [ovs-dev,v4] northd: Add LR option to commit all traffic.
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/patch/[email protected]/
- submitter: Ales Musil
- reviews: Han and Alin reviewed and tested v3
- note: as this introduces a new knob it can't easily be accepted
as bug fix, but this is a critical change required for:
- user defined networks in ovn-kubernetes
- HW offload in ovn-kubernetes
8. Spine-Leaf Logical Switch Topology. [v2]
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/list/?series=443071&state=*
- submitter: Ilya Maximets
- reviews: Mark
- pending items: needs a follow up review, v1 seemed in good shape
already.
V2 was posted, and I will review this today as well.
9. [ovs-dev] treewide: Introduce OVN overlay port mirroring support. [v3, I
think]
https://patchwork.ozlabs.org/project/ovn/patch/[email protected]/
- submitter: Alexandra Rukomoinikova, Vladislav Odintsov
- reviews: Ales reviewed v1
- pending items: CI is failing, v4 is needed
I hope I didn't miss any other features that qualify for
25.03.0 acceptance.
A good part of the above is almost ready for merge, AFAICT
that's items: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8.
However, I'm really worried that we won't be able to get all this in
by end of day tomorrow. Would it be an option to consider a slight
delay for the branching date, e.g., by one week?
I think a one week delay will allow us to conclude the reviews that are
far along, so I'm fine with it. I think even with an extra week, some of
the above may not make it in, though. And that's fine. There have been a
*lot* of new features for 25.03, and punting some to 25.09 may be necessary.
Thanks,
Dumitru
