Fair concern. I've not personally experienced problems with OvS. But I'm not pushing it.You might consider something like MACVLAN and / or IPVLAN. Let them provide one connection for the local system and another connection for OvS.
I know you can also do things with Linux native bridges, but that seems sort of antithetical to the purpose of OvS and this discussion list. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
