That's really old - try updating to a newer version of OVS. Current stable bridge is 2.13. There are a lot of bug fixes and enhancements since 2.5.

ovs-vsctl show: Port "eth1" Interface "eth1" error: "could not open network device eth1 (No such device)" ovs-vsctl get interface eth1 ofport: -1 Any attempt to add any new port to bridge fails after this due to invalid OFPortCfg (-1) for newly added ports. ovs-vsctl add-port br-test eth3 ovs-vsctl: Error detected while setting up 'eth3'.
