Hello all, I have a setup with 2 interfaces.
* MF -> internal interface -> input of packets and processing * GTP -> (Lisp like interface -> just with UDP port 2152) output of packets after encapsulation over the UDP socket. So the incoming packet gets encapsulated in an outer IPV6 header + UDP header and sent out. I do this over the flow table (I use a slightly adjusted OVS 2.14). These are both non-physical interfaces. The packet gets then routed to an ETH interface (not in OVS) and out. I set max MTU on both of these interfaces. The MTU of the ETH interface is set to 1500. When I receive ICMPv6 messages, like "Packet too big", I see that the messages arrive in the loopback interface and are not forwarded to OVS. I would like to implement an action based on this ICMPv6 message. Currently, the easiest way, would be just to have an application listening on a raw socket to ICMPv6 messages and handle the Packet too big message. Is there a better way to do this? I am confused. Conntrack seems to do what I want. Can connection tracking be used to track ICMP messages related to outgoing UDP packets, and can I consider to use them instead of an own application listening on a raw socket?
