Abstract
In this research, we propose an architectural solution to implement
the Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology in campus environment
between branches. The objective of this evaluation is to measure the
quality of the streaming on client server performance over VPN
technology. Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology has become a
discussion issue for this time being. Today, the deployment of this
technology on an organization truly can give a great privacy and
security benefit over campus branches.
Therefore, this study is to analyze the VPN over open source
application and hardware device performance areas evolved with the
quality of service delivered by streaming activities between branches.
This study focuses on quality of voice prediction such as i) the
performance of streaming activity (traffic in and out) and ii) delay
based on round trip time (RTT). In this study, network management
system (NMS) is used to monitor and capture the performance of VPN in
campus environment. In addition, the most apparent of implementing VPN
in campus environment is to define the best solution between open
source application and hardware device that can be used in operational
environment.
Based on the finding result, the VPN measurement through hardware
device is able to contribute better performance compare to open source
application.
