I had it sorta right. Each byte transmitted is 10 "bits" (8+start+stop), which gives a 1-wire cycle of 87usec, sampled in 10 places. Only bit 0 is actually tested for the bus state, and the high order bits are set to 1 to add power for long zero sequences. I suppose if we went to 57600 baud, and sampled at bits 0 and 5, it might work with 2 1-wire bits transmitted per serial byte. It's hard to believe no one has thought of that before.
