Hi, I know this has been discussed before (in November 05), but I wanted to point the developers to some references. This is not new stuff, but someone has managed to use the GPIO ports on a Linksys WRT54G to access SD Cards, see http://kiel.kool.dk/. Basically he connected six of the GPIO ports to an SD Card Slot and wrote a kernel driver for accessing the device (http://kiel.kool.dk/mmc.c).
The GPIO ports deliver 3.3v. I do not know much about 1-Wire (yet), but I recall it could operate between 2.8 and 6.somewhat volts. Maybe 3.3v would suffice - maybe not - I don't know. If no, possibly some more electronics would be needed to make it work, which would make the idea (a little) less attractive. If more devices than only the Linksys WRT54G should be supported, one would need to adjust the GPIO assignments to the corresponding model (i.e. Asus WL-500g, Netgear WGT634U). In some cases (when the user picks the wrong port) this may brick the router, so a big "USE AT YOUR OWN RISK" sign should be placed, I guess :) Btw, using GPIO ports as 1-Wire master isn't new: Someone has done it with FreeBSD on Soekris Net4801 board: http://phk.freebsd.dk/soekris/1wire/ I hope one of the links may have been useful.
