It's just a thought, but maybe you can also add broadband lambda probes
(monitored through 1-Wire of course) to the system. This way you could
effectively see under which conditions the engine is running lean/rich and
optimize your injection system.

I'd be glad to see some results on your whole idea; a low-cost opensource
data logger for engines seems very promising!
