Using one of the ownet programs (connecting directly to owserver) seems like
the best approach.

Yes, I'd be interested in that too. I've been playing with both OWW and
OWFS and would be interested in being able to have owserver look after
all the devices, so I can share some sensors between OWW and other apps.
