I'm writing my own client. Modifying owdir to use a persistent connection
would be a bit silly. I did note, though, that the server itself doesn't
seem to use persistent connections when it talks to another server.
(Well, this bug would prevent that from working. ;-)
My client tries to enumerate one of the buses behind a DS2509.
There's nothing there. I *expect* to get a standard "end of directory
listing" reply (zero length message, and all that). Or an error.
Instead, I get nothing.
As that is not what I'd expect, I tried to compare what I do with what
owdir does. It gets the same non-reply, except that in its case (as it
doesn't use a persistent connection) the server closes down the TCP link
after not sending anything.
owdir seems to think, rightly so IMHO, that this is an error,
and tries again. :-/
I'd appreciate if you could fix that, as that would save me from
implementing a stupid timeout to catch that case. (Besides, that timeout
*will* give me false positives -- other clients might be doing voltage or
temperature measurements on that bus.)
