It appears that normally only 1 chain is possible on a bus (or branch of a
DS2409).

The first device in the chain has it's PIOB pin grounded. Each additional
chain element is daisy chained to the previous.

I suppose the grounding of two separate chains could be controlled by
another method (DS2406?) but an application that elaborate could handle a
changing chain.
