I'm sorry to keep asking hardware questions on the owfs-software-dev list,
but I don't know where else to ask these things.

Why do all (that I've found) light-measuring circuits based on the DS2438
use reverse-biased photodiodes, rather than, say, a photoresistor?  Either
way you could have a fixed sense resistor between the Vs+ and Vs-
terminals.

I ask because I'm having trouble getting a photodiode to work correctly,
and I can model a photoresistor using a potentiometer to make *sure* it's
working the way I expect it to.
