Something like this should work:
# apt-get install dpkg-dev fakeroot
# tar xfvz owfs.tar.gz
# cd owfs
# dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot -b
# cd ..
# ls *.deb :-)
My autobuilder currently has the hiccups; I'll see what I can do. :-/
