All,

After successfully installing OWFS and reading some 1wire data with a
DS9097U and a blue dot connector, I added some devices and problems
started to appear....

My setup is as follows:

Software
---------
openSuSE 10.3
owfs 2.6p8 or 2.7p3

Hardware
----------
Profilic PL2303 Serial/USB adapter
DS9097U serial adapter
Blue dot connector + various iButtons (id, temp, etc)
AAG Electronics TAI8558 (1wire relay board) and TAI8555 (1wire switch)
RJ11 cabling (only red and green center wires available), less than 10
inches in length
9 VDC power supply to the TAI8558 (also tried it without)

The Problem
-------------
When only the blue dot reader is connected to the DS9097U, then I can
read all iButtons fine. When either of the AAG devices is connected,
not only are no 1wire devices visible, but restarting OWFS causes the
following error if any AAG device is connected:

DEFAULT: Cannot detect DS9097 (passive) interface on /dev/ttyUSB0

I've been reading the list archives, and switched from 2.7p3 to 2.6p8
hoping that this would solve the problem, but it has not so far. There
are no errors in the error directory and I've tried changing some
settings in bus.0, but all this has had no effect.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? I'm going to
order a USB adapter hoping it will make things work better, but this
seems to be quite a strange problem that no one else has had. It seems
to me that the AAG devices should just pass-through any 1wire
connections, but they seem to be impacting the working of the
connector. Is it possible that the AAG devices are imposing such a
drain on the 1wire bus that nothing works? How would one go about
fixing this? I did notice that this is not the first time the AAG stuff
has caused issues (the whole thread about the AAG windvane and Christian
Magnusson's posts, amoung others...).

I'd really like to get this working as I've bought quite a lot of 1wire
hardware over the years and have never been able to really get it to
work. OWFS seems to be much more robust than every other method I've
tried, but I'd really like to get the AAG stuff working.

Thx. in advance.

Chris.
